Spain is located in the Iberian Peninsula to Europe's Southwest. On the west Spain borders Portugal; on the south, it borders Gibraltar and Morocco, through its cities in North Africa (Ceuta and Melilla). On the northeast along the Pyrenees mountain range, it borders France and the tiny principality of Andorra. Spain also includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranen side of the strait of Gibraltar. The climate in Spain is incredibly diverse. It is affected mostly by its altitude and the surrounding sea. Spain is one of the most mountainous countries of Europe. Also there is an enormous difference between the climate of the North and that of the South.
Summer
Spanish summers can become very hot, especially inland. The average temperatures you may expect are 30 degrees. In the coastal areas there are fresh breezes from the sea making the temperatures more bearable. During the summer there is an average 11/12 hour of the sun per day and scarcely any rain.
Autumn
Autumn is a good time to visit Spain. Landscape becomes green, and the average temperatures can reach up to 28 degrees. Only in November the temperatures could fall to 20 degrees.
Winter
During the winter coastal temperatures are approximately 17 degrees. Though the days are sunny and lukewarm, it can be very cold at nights. Towards inland, it becomes colder, especially in mountainous areas as Granada.
Spring
The spring, a pre-summer, is really magic in Spain. In spring the days become longer, and the temperatures can come to 21 degrees inland and approximately to 24 on the South coast. In spring there is an average of 11 hours of light.
